Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

  • I take care of myself by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.  
  • I spend time with my family and friends.  
  • I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just school. 
  • I find meaningful ways to help others.

Ideas for

Sharpening the Saw

as a Family
 

  • Have a family game night.
     
  • Exercise together. Set health or exercise goals and keep a journal.
  • Read together. Set aside a certain time every day when everyone reads.
  • Have your own family book club.
  • Set appropriate bedtimes and be consistent.
  • Shop for healthy snacks together. Plan healthy meals as a family.
  • Swap out unhealthy soda for water.  
  • Do something nice for a family member, friend, or neighbor.  

 

What do you do to keep yourself sharp as parents?

Here are some suggestions.

 

BODY

Sleep, exercise, and eat healthy foods.

BRAIN

Learn new things, read and write.

HEART

Laugh, spend time with family and friends, be helpful to others

SOUL

Enjoy nature, listen to music, draw a picture

 

INTEGRITY

Doing what is right, even when it is difficult.
