Last week, our Transportation Department accepted delivery of four brand-new buses each equipped with cutting-edge technology. This investment, supported by our local tax base, shows how tax dollars directly benefit our schools, improving comfort and safety for our students.
Part of the Diesel CE series, the new buses boast a passenger capacity of 70. The buses were manufactured in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the IC Bus Factory, a wholly owned subsidiary of International Motors an American Company.
"These new buses are built on International’s MV medium-duty truck chassis, a heavier and sturdier platform than traditional bus frames," said District Mechanic Trevin Helmuth. He explained that the robust design ensures greater durability, allowing these buses to withstand rigorous daily use. The redesigned front end features a sloped hood, providing improved visibility for drivers, and LED headlights enhance daytime and nighttime safety.
The driver’s area has significant upgrades. With a more spacious cockpit, taller headroom, and creature comforts, drivers can enjoy a more ergonomic and comfortable experience. The new design includes a different windshield layout with greater visibility, and additional room to move, providing an improved overall environment for drivers. Flush-mounted cameras improve visibility for drivers.
We are excited for these buses to join the Pryor Transportation Fleet.
