Pryor's own Lori Martin honored in GMA’s Sideline Superhero series
Guess who’s going to Game One of the NBA Finals? Coach Lo!
National media attention turned to Pryor High School this morning when Good Morning America aired a live segment from the Burdick Center as part of their “Sideline Superheroes” series. The spotlight was firmly on Lori Martin, basketball coach and math teacher, affectionately known as Coach Lo to her students and players.
Coach Lo took center stage with Pryor High School Principal Dr. Fielding Elseman as ABC’s Will Reeve spotlighted her live on Good Morning America. Students and former players, including many of her Pryor Girls Basketball team members, lined up to cheer on their coach and celebrate the moment, a testament to the powerful influence she has both in the classroom and on the court.
True to form, Martin used the spotlight to highlight her students’ grit and determination, acknowledging the outstanding support and top-notch facilities that Pryor offers its community and athletes.
“She brings a ton of energy—positive energy and a competitive spirit—to everything she does,” said Principal Elseman, noting the positive influence Martin brings to the school community.
As a 100% Thunder fan, Martin was stunned when her favorite player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, appeared in a personal video message congratulating her. Just when she thought the moment couldn’t get any better, she found out she’d be attending Game One of the NBA Finals—decked out in a Shai jersey.
It was a moment of joy, pride, and well-deserved recognition for an educator who gives her all every single day.
