Pryor High School Innovation students are gaining national attention for their real-world problem-solving skills. The January 2026 CAPS Network News highlighted Pryor’s Innovation team for their creative solution to the Pride of Pryor performance challenge, showcasing hands-on learning in action.
The newsletter shared the following about the project:
“At the Pryor Innovation Center, learning leapt off the whiteboard and onto the football field when STEM Capstone students partnered with the Pride of Pryor Marching Band to solve a real performance challenge. Tasked with creating ten synchronized stoplights for the band’s competition show, students designed, built, tested, and programmed custom lighting systems using 3D printing, LEDs, and Arduino controls, adapting their designs along the way to meet the demands of live performance. From collaborating with the band director on timing and choreography to engineering durable, portable units for game-day conditions, students experienced what CAPS does best: turning authentic community needs into hands-on, purpose-driven learning that builds both technical skill and professional confidence.”
The feature underscores how Pryor’s Innovation program connects classroom learning with community partnerships, giving students meaningful experiences that mirror real-world careers while supporting district programs like the Pride of Pryor Marching Band.
